Sailing in Kos
Written by Anna James | Posted in Sailing Updated 20-May

Sailing in Kos The simple, dull everyday introduction of Kos would be that it is a Greek island on the Aegean Sea, in the south Sporades group, which belongs to the Dodecanese.

Nevertheless, of course this would be too minimal for me, since Kos is for me always symbolized the Mediterranean sailing heaven with its bluest waters in the Northern hemisphere. Greece is so wonderful with its ancient history, mythology, anchorages and beautiful landscapes that you will need a lifetime to discover it fully.

But to start this journey of discovery, Kos could be the ideal place. Beside this, often this area is considered for the hottest Hellenic sailing destination – it is perfect to visit already in early April or even in late October and beginning of November (more info on First Time visitor information to Kos).

Money Saving Tip #6
Use Travelex.com to get the best rates on your currency (better than the Post Office!).

The classic, popular offer for sailing in Kos would be the well-known one-day trips. This can be a great way to spend one day from your precious holiday in Hellas. The departure is usually from Kos Marina or Kardamena. These types of sailing are characterized by mono-hull carries with maximum seven passengers and catamarans with nine passengers. During the trip drinks (lot of drinks, crikey!) and snacks are served. Dryasdust travelers can get some coffee or tea. Under no circumstances not to miss, the Sunset Cruise that starts at marina in dusk and it continues with discovering romantic beaches for swimming in the sunset. However, for the serious holidayers, Kos can offer a bit different type of sailing.

For me sailing on Kos was always connected to the Istion yachting from Kos marina. They have a wide offer of sailing yachts, motor yachts and catamarans. With the experienced team of this company new adventures or luxury yachting were always the central happening of my Kos holiday. Fully equipped yachts offer high a standard for every purse.

Beside them, you can always choose the company of Easy Sailing Greece. This is an honest and dependable charter company with long history. You will choose this if you are interested in a longer type of sailing, at least one week. They have in offer a huge variety of yachts with economical or premium standards.

Money Saving Tip #2
Book your hotel through Booking.com and get the lowest rate for your hotel..guaranteed!

Depending on your need – passenger number, cabin number- and the season of your holiday you can have many different solutions for sailing. The only limitation is your fantasy and your purse since this adventure can start from around £1000 ($1605/1146) quid to a price where the sky is the limit. But it is worth it, believe me.
