Written by Anna James | Posted in Cafes Updated 20-May

Local Cuisine in Kos If you are taking a trip to Kos, and are wondering about the cuisine, you are going to be surprised with the options and variety you will have to choose from. The island features a variety of restaurants, which serve regional as well as international cuisine of all sorts. Depending on whether you are looking to try Greek favorites, or just the favorite restaurants amongst tourists to Kos, there is a little something for everyone. So, when dining in Kos, here are a few of the hot spots, and more well known dining spots you may want to visit while on your trip.

  • Avli is a restaurant which offers Greek cuisine. The restaurant is situated in a pre-built 1902 house, located on the village square, yet far enough from the traffic and noise. The restaurant offers a scenic courtyard, featuring flowers which are native to the Aegean region. The kitchen offers a variety of smaller dishes, vegetarian favorites, and offers a great selection of fine wines (more info on Winery Tour in Kos) from the cellar, for diners to pair with their meal. For a local Greek inspired cuisine, Avli is a great restaurant to choose.
Money Saving Tip #6

  • Palia Pigi is a small tavern, which is sitauted on one of the oldest fountains in Kos. Guests can expect great meals and drink selections, for a real authentic taste. Serving delicious fried eggplant and zuchinni slices, sausages and mince, small souvlaki skewers, and several other Greek favorites, diners will really love the blend of foods they restaurant offers. The charcoal grill makes for a great tasting meal, offers a variety of foods for all taste buds, and the extensive drink menu really offers the perfect finish to a great meal. Dining guide for Kos, visit Fantastic Greece.

  • Otto e Mezzo is a great Italian getaway. For those wishing to have a familiar taste, yet wanting to try a favorite amongst visitors and locals of Kos, this is the place to stop. The restaurant offers authentic fresh pasta dishes, homemade sauces, an extensive dessert menu, and the longest wine list you can imagine. If you really love Italian cuisine, and want to experience the Kos twist to Italian, Otto e Mezzo is a great choice for you to visit while on your vacation.
